I talk a lot about building On-Camera Confidence. I even teach a quarterly workshop helping people gain clarity and confidence in their messaging. In my years as a producer and now media consultant, I have discovered another layer above "confidence".
It's comfort.
Sometimes when we build confidence on camera, we rely on armour: hair, makeup, wardrobe, and exaggerated delivery. We know we need to rise to the occasion to command a stage, but if you rise too much, you turn people off. Especially when it's a more intimate space like a screen.
