When I worked as a producer, the hardest part about my job was picking who gets to be on TV.
A lot of information was considered, but it always came down to the "It factor".
Did the person in front of me have "It"? This intangible quality someone possessed where I knew I could put them in front of a camera and they wouldn't waver. They could speak with confidence and be fully present.
For years I thought only some people had this "It factor". I thought they must be born this way, and this isn't something I can teach.
I was wrong.
